This year, the DMHA has sanctioned the formation of a select team for atom age players (players born in 1997 or 1998). Try-outs for the Atom Select team will be held on Sunday Oct 28 at 3:15 to 4:15 , Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3:15 to 4:15 and Wed., Nov. 7, 4:30 to 5:30 at the Wentworth Arenas, 1249 Wilson St. East, Ancaster, ON. The final time period will be used for a contact clinic which is mandatory for all successful players. There will be a fee levied prior to each session to cover the cost of the ice rental. Players should arrive at the arena at least 30 minutes before the first try-out.

Once chosen, it is expected that the Atom Select team will participate in a weekly practice session as well as games against local select team opponents. As well, it is anticipated that the team will compete in at least 2 tournaments. At no time will the select team schedule be allowed to interfere with the house league schedule. Additional costs will be incurred by a player’s participation on the select team, and this is anticipated to be in the range of $250 per player for the season. It is hoped, however, that this will be partially offset by fund-raising activities.

A select team provides the opportunity, for the interested and successful player to participate in additional on-ice activities in order to improve his or her skills and to enjoy play at a higher level. We look forward to a very successful season.
